Good Monday Morning

These days and weeks keep rolling by don't they?  I'm okay with it...we are one month closer to Spring, I am counting down the days.

This is a little scene from my flower bench today.  I am currently building red roses for a December 2026 wedding.  Everything is hand painted, hand cut and assembled.  I usually do this while listening to praise music and or romantic jazz or an audio book.  I love listening to audio books while working with my hands.  They mesmerize me and I can just disappear into the story.

We spent the last two mornings with our little grand boy.  Oh how I could just eat him up he is so so sweet.  We have been keeping him on Sunday mornings during flu season while his mama and dada go to church.  We watch our church from home right now too so it works great for everyone and while my daughter is expecting it keeps everyone healthier.

After he left today I had a little snack.  Two cheese sticks and an orange and fell asleep.  Goodness.  I slept like I was drugged. In my defense its dark and cold and snowy here so that made it perfect for hibernation I guess.

Hey, I heard that Punxsultawny Phil saw his shadow, but Buckeye Chuck did not so I guess we are 50/50 either way.  I am going with Chuck since he is from Ohio.  Woohoo!  Early Spring.

On my agenda for this week is more flower making, more Bible time, I am following along with a quilting challenge so I will be doing a little sewing.  I'll share my project in another post.

I am going to start meal planning again.  I always did this when our daughter was young.  But I have been floundering in the cooking department these days.  I love to cook, just not lately. meal planning always helps me get my food to stretch farther too.  Now that we are those retired folks it will really help stretch our food budget a little farther.

I have two criteria, keep it simple and use simple everyday pantry items.

My ideas for this week...
Homemade sloppy joes...I made these Sunday evening
Italian Sausage and Potato skillet
Soup and cornbread (I haven't decide what kind yet)
Hamburger and Steak fries
leftover night
something with chicken

I am a work in progress.  I need to sit with my menu and figure it out.

My Monday has been great!  I am going  back to work on my flowers  before I need to start my dinner and settle in for the evening.

Until next time...
Joyce

  1. Hi - I'm visiting from Debbie's blog. Nice to meet you...and I enjoyed a glimpse into your week. Hope you had those sloppy joes. That sounds super tasty right about now. The flurries are coming down here in VA. I so thought we were done with those...but still time for all the comfort foods!

  2. Joyce, I'm sorry it's taken me way too long to get to your blog! I'm so glad you're writing again and I can't wait to hear more about your grandbabies and all the things that you're spending time doing. I'm really failing in the menu making department these days. I hope I can get back to it and actually follow it. I go to the store and it feels like I have enough to cover a few weeks and then I stand at the fridge and wonder what in the world I'm going to cook. How does that happen? Anyway, I'm glad you're back and I'll add you to the reading list, for sure :)

  3. Hi Debbie! Believe me, I am with you in the menu department it lasted about 4 days lol. But…I have been a little better at cooking this past week. I really had lost my love for it and basically chose whatever is quickest to make. I think that’s just plain old winter blues. Blogging, even though I haven’t gotten to it this week at all yet is helping me feel more accountable to myself and my thinking needed that. Thank you for stopping by.
