Getting My Feet Wet
Welcome to my sweet little blog! I guess I should share a little bit about me. I was one of those “Old Fashioned” bloggers from the 2000’s. I homeschooled our daughter and found my blog home in Homeschool Blogger. How fun it was to meet friends from all over the country who were doing the same thing I was. There are many methods of homeschooling but we found a common ground there and I met one of my closest friends whom I have sadly lost a couple of years ago.
After our daughter graduated, I helped her run her small business for the next eleven years. They were busy years and while I tried blogging many times just couldn’t find my groove. I didn’t really have much to say and thought how boring are you…who would want to read your blog lol. Deciding she wanted to start a family, we closed her business and I have been taking the time since to find things to keep me busy. These things take a little time to find your niche.
In 2025, I was really compelled to focus on lovely things. Lovely is one of my favorite words well, because most things that I enjoy are lovely like creating a butterfly garden, quilting, reading my Bible and falling into a really good book. Most importantly, spending time with my family. I also make paper flowers out of German crepe paper although I mostly reserve that for cold weather months. This past year I just got so tired of the heaviness of the world and made it a mission to find all things lovely. Philippians 4:8 is the verse I am trying to put into practice in my life so 2025 was that year. My daughter and I started a cookie company which we named The Lovely Cookie Company as a matter of fact. My husband retired early and well, I guess I formally did too. And we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in Florida at the beach. Life always brings change. Seeking the Lord brings me right through those changes even though some are unexpected or difficult.
In 2024, we became Mimi and Pop Pop to the most beautiful little blue eyed, blond haired little boy who has completely stolen our hearts. And in 2026 we have another sweet grand baby on the way.
So, there you have it. A quick little synopsis on what I have been up to these last few years. I don’t plan on anyone reading my blog. I probably won’t have any followers and I have to say I am okay with that. As long as I give glory to God in my words and actions I’m here to have a little fun.
The goals of my blog is to record daily or weekly my happenings and a diary for my quilting and anything else that may be on my heart. If you find me by chance. Say hello.
Until next time,
God bless
